- Revolut makes it easier to load cryptocurrencies into a MetaMask wallet
- The brands partnered to integrate a new crypto purchase feature: Revolut Ramp
- Adds to the more than 40 payment methods available from MetaMask
MetaMask users now have a new way to top up their cryptocurrency wallet, thanks to Revolut. The cryptocurrency-compatible digital bank has partnered with MetaMask to enable a new feature. You can now purchase digital coins directly from the self-custodial wallet. In a blog post, the partners introduced a new capability called Revolut Ramp. It allows users of the digital bank to purchase and deposit cryptocurrencies directly to their wallet using their fiat currency balance or via a Visa or Mastercard bank card. You wont need additional verifications.
The company said the feature, now integrated into the MetaMask mobile app and browser extension, makes it faster and easier to add cryptocurrencies to a wallet. It is available to U.K. users and the European Economic Area (EEA). Individuals can tap into their available dollar, euro, or sterling balances in their Revolut accounts. They can also use their cards to load cryptocurrencies into their wallets “in a matter of seconds,” according to the release.
Lorenzo Santos, senior product manager at Consensys, the developer behind MetaMask, spoke about the new partnership. He highlight his view that the integration “plays a crucial role in fostering a wider adoption of cryptocurrencies, opening up the cryptocurrencies world to more people.
This partnership is about giving our users what they want: more control over their cryptocurrencies in a simple way, using platforms they already know and trust.

More options for buying crypto from MetaMask
Those without previous Revolut accounts will need to complete a know-your-customer (KYC) process. Consensys has assured it is designed to be quick and takes only a few minutes to complete. Users can see the ‘Revolut Ramp’ feature when they click “Buy” from their MetaMask wallet. The new offering now joins a suite of more than 40 unique payment methods available in 177 countries.
The wallet developed by Consensys recently partnered with Robinhood to facilitate cryptocurrency purchases. It is also integrated with other well-known companies such as PayPal, Stripe, and MoonPay to offer a variety of fiat on-ramps. The partnership comes at a complex time for Revolut. They suspended last year its cryptocurrency services in the U.S. and later in December did the same in the U.K., citing new Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations covering promotions of the asset class.
